Lo Penksa and I got the opportunity to attend the Northern Nevada Pride Festival hosted in downtown Reno. We had a great time promoting Women Against Taboo and handing out t-shirts, stickers, and business cards. It was a very upbeat and loving environment that encouraged everyone to embrace their true self whether they affiliated with the LBGTQ community or not. One thing that I have been criticized for with my organization is the fact that I reach out to men, women, and all other gender identifies but having "women" in the name of the organization contradicts these ideals. I have been told by critics, that if I wish to reach out to other people besides women that I should change my company’s name. However, something that really stood out to me during this Pride festival was how many people support organizations that they may not qualify for. That’s how I feel about Women Against Taboo. The organization was originally started as an organization for women to support other women but has since evolved. Just because that is how it originated does not mean that we cannot help others outside of that scope and does not mean that other people are not able to support this organization. I am not African American but I support Black Lives Matter, I am not part of the LBGTQ community but I still support their rights, cause, and movement as a whole. I think these equality movements and organizations have great ethical morals that we can all learn from and be a part of. So as Women Against Taboo continues to grow, I encourage everyone to feel included in our resources and information that we provide. Our organization does not discriminate to anyone and we hope that others will continue to learn from us and participate in the fight to reduce sexual stigma, disorders, and other issues.

Girls…..

…… and boys!

Let’s talk about periods today.
Yes, you heard it right PERIODS the most beautiful natural phenomenon amongst women, it indicates that our body is functioning properly in a healthy way, a mark of your femininity and fertility, then why not embrace its beauty?

Are we still hesitant about discussing it in public or with male members of our family?

Do we still consider menstruation as a big taboo in our society?

Is it just India or all over the world?

This blog is an initiative for social awareness on periods and some social taboos on periods that needs to be changed all over the world.
