What is sexual advising?
Sexual advisors may offer various services and guidance to help clients have the most fulfilling and rewarding sex and sexual relationships. Due to the gap in knowledge and healthcare regarding sexual health, it is common for issues regarding sex and relationships to have educational or mild behavioral solutions which do not require professionals with master's or doctorate level degrees. My time in the field has taught me that many times, a simple lack of knowledge or education is commonly the source of the issue. My primary role as a sexual advisor is to offer support, resources, education, interventions, skills, and recommendations to assist individuals or couples in their sexual journeys and improve their sex lives. I also assess my client's needs and refer them to more extensive sexual health services if needed. Sexual health services can be expensive, and it is common for people to be unsure what kind of help they need. Seeing an advisor can be a more cost-effective way to discover your care needs.
I am VERY cognoscente about staying within my scope of practice when working with clients. It is currently NOT in my scope of practice to offer psychotherapy, prescribe medications, order lab tests, screening exams, or diagnostic testing. However, it IS in my scope of practice to recognize these interventions may be helpful for you and your health, so if needed, I will refer you to the appropriate medical and/or mental health professionals who can better assist you.

Who am I?
I am a licensed Registered Nurse from the University of Nevada, Reno, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a minor degree in Family and Sexual studies. Throughout undergrad, I worked as a medical assistant at a Gynecology office, where I had the opportunity to shadow Gynecologists and a Sex Therapist for three years. I also volunteered for various domestic violence and sex trafficking prevention organizations. During my senior year of college, I started teaching sex education to college students and shortly after started the Women Against Taboo Foundation.
After receiving my nursing degree, I worked at Seattle Children’s Hospital in their crisis stabilization unit for Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. While there, I participated in the Sex Trafficking Prevention Task Force to improve identification and education to various communities in the Seattle area and treated patients for psychiatric disorders including those related to sexual abuse and exploitation. I then transferred to an outpatient program where I worked with adolescents with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. |
I currently work as a school nurse while attending grad school at Regis College to earn my Doctorate in Nursing Practice. I am enrolled in the Family Nursing Practice (general medicine) track with an emphasis in Sexual Health and Wellness to assist my career goal of becoming a Sexual Medicine Doctor. This degree will allow me to provide comprehensive medical sexual healthcare to my patients and treat them for various physical, psychological, spiritual, and social-sexual issues, illnesses, and diseases. After I earn my doctoral degree, I will apply to the American Association for Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) graduate certification program to earn my sex counseling certification to offer more extensive psychological care to my patients.
I am in a unique position as I have several experienced sexual health mentors who have been in the field for decades, helping me achieve success through my career path. I am constantly learning from them and gaining a better understanding of the sexual health field. While on my road to becoming a Sexual Medicine doctor and with the help and guidance from my mentors, I currently see clients for sexual advising sessions. I have been offering free sexual advising guidance to the colligate members who attend my educational seminars and have quickly discovered that many individuals beyond the collegiate walls are also in need of sexual health resources. Because of this need, I am expanding beyond university advising and offering my support and services to the public as well.

How much does it cost?
Each individual or couple has different financial constraints and circumstances that may impact their ability to obtain resources. I work individually with each client to discuss financial costs for sessions. I also give a higher discounted rate for the first session if applicable. I believe that finances should not determine our right to obtain knowledge and education; hence, I will not send anyone away due to financial difficulties.
